A Glorious Backlit Tree.
About to leave the park after a walk and was amazed by this magnificent tree glowing from the afternoon sun about to set behind it! All I could do was stare and admire its beauty in that moment. And of course, take a few photos of it…
I noticed this same tree in previous years and researched it last year. Turns out to be a Copper Beech aka “Purple Beech” originally native to Northern Europe. It’s a rare, beautiful, mature specimen for North America these days, because a blight is killing off many of them, especially the young trees. Does its rarity make it more beautiful? Feels like it does.

And of course I could not resist making a few edits/variations on the photo of this glorious tree, which I offer in a mini-gallery for your enjoyment! Which one(s) do you like best? Let me know in the comments…
