Underside of the Tracks.

You pause at a red light and look up at the bridge above you. Then you realize it’s not the highway over your head, but train tracks, and there are a lot of holes and spaces letting the sunlight through. Seems a little old and rickety at first glance, but there is an amazing geometry to the engineering of this bridge, and far more than enough strength to keep the trains from crashing through…

Today, I was in the passenger seat, so I could look up and enjoy the patterns of steel and wood and light on the underside of the tracks (and grab a quick pic on my iPhone).
