A few things I enjoy besides family, work, and my creative outlets like this blog, are worthy causes, and other activities to keep my brain and hands busy, my heart full, and my soul satisfied. These activities are what I imagine and undertake continually to distract myself, while trying to help make the world a better place, with varying degrees of skill, purpose, attention, commitment, and completion.
Activities Include:
I post personal commentary, non-photography-related observations, musings, wisecracks, puns, and rants to a separate blog at: russellemurray.com — check it out!
Micro-poetry (haiku and senryu) at haikumages, where I’ve posted more than 550 short poems and photographs since 2011. I’m writing “official” haiku only occasionally these days, but I often catch myself writing photo post captions, which are essentially short poems!
The AudioConvo podcast launched in 2022, combining lifelong loves of people, radio, listening, and talking. It’s taking a lot of time, but it’s fun and deeply satisfying. The podcast is focused on topics and issues that are core to my life and work: fashion, food, art, music, creativity, technology, business, and the future. My podcast “schtick” is: “I don’t know a lot, but I know a lot of people who do!”
I am a co-founder and member of the Walkabout Alumni Association (a.k.a. “WAA”) which provides resources, forums, gatherings, events, community, and support for graduates of all — past, present, and future — Walkabout programs and schools.
