Walking to the water’s edge at high tide on a cold, bright, winter morning, I was delighted to find someone had arranged blue votive candles in the sand, forming the words, “I LOVE YOU”…

Discovering this loving message inspired me to write several haiku-senryu-style short poems, which you can read below, and on my poetry blog: Haikumages.

Blue candles waiting in sand
To burn for lovers

Lovingly arranged
Blue candles in sand await
Lovers to light them

Three
A three-word message
Blue candles wait in the sand
For lovers to light
