Polacon Polaroid Portrait #7

This portrait post consists of two instant photos — one color, one monochrome — taken of Eric Toribio aka “Ribsy” as he is known on his YouTube channel “Doing Film Things.” I first met Ribsy at PolaCon NYC 2023 after having enjoyed his YouTube videos for some time. He is a super-knowledgeable, friendly, film photography fanatic, and he greeted me with a big smile when I walked into the event this year.

In the color shot above, Ribsy posed with a calm smile in front of the shiny, coppery PolaCon backdrop hanging so that attendees could make portraits with it during the event.

In the b&w shot below, I asked Ribsy for an “action” pose with his Polaroid I-2 instant camera, but I stood too far away in a dark room, so the shot is dark, even with my SLR 680 ES’ flash.

Subject: Ribsy / Doing Film Things
Location: Worthless Studios, Bushwick, Brooklyn
Camera: Polaroid SLR 680SE (vintage)
Film: Polaroid 600 Color / 600 Monochrome

The second PolaCon NYC event, sponsored by Polaroid, was held from May 17th — 19th, primarily at Worthless Studios in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. I went on Saturday the 18th and had a great time learning, playing with gear, meeting old friends, making new ones, and shooting a bunch of instant photos!

See you tomorrow…
