Portrait of “woman in purple shades” holding a vintage Mamiya Press Camera, at PolaCon NYC 2024. In this configuration, the Mamiya looks very much like the Polaroid 600SE (or “GOOSE” as it is known among those who know), two of the three best pack-film cameras ever made. IMHO, the third of three is the Fuji Fotorama FP-1 Professional…

Group Shot & Cameras:
Moments after I took the two portraits (above), a new assemblage of models and people with instant cameras arranged themselves in front of the yellow, seamless (dirty) backdrop. The variety of cameras held in their hands was worth capturing, especially after “woman in purple shades” joined the group pose with her outstretched arm supporting a Mamiya Press Camera (no small feat!) over the model’s head.

The second PolaCon NYC 2024 event, sponsored by Polaroid, was held from May 17th — 19th, primarily at Worthless Studios in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. I went on Saturday the 18th and had a great time learning, playing with gear, meeting old friends, making new ones, and shooting a bunch of instant photos!
See you tomorrow…
