PROJECT

The “Beautifully Different” (aka “BEAUTDIFF”) concept formed in my mind and heart years ago out of a desire to educate groups of people about other groups of people, to find common ground, see and celebrate the beauty in each other. This evolved into an idea for a not-for-profit (“NFP”) organization with an educational and social mission to replace ignorance with knowledge, discover commonness, appreciate differences, build bridges, bonds, and connections between groups of people who might not otherwise learn about each other.

Leading up to and through the increasingly divisive social and political climate of 2016–2021, I wrote, photographed, blogged, posted often and exhaustively about beautifully different people and related themes. Ultimately, I decided the world already had enough NFP’s and NGO’s (non-governmental organizations) dedicated to related or overlapping causes, so I dropped the idea of building one myself.

Instead, I launched this personal project focused on documenting people and events, which illustrate and support my passionate belief that people are beautifully different…
