People of the Agencies

PROJECT

My instant photography portraits of the people who work at model, talent, artist agencies. There are a few current and former models and other talents in the mix, because they often work in the agencies, but they are not the focus of this project.

Why people of the agencies? They are my clients, colleagues, and friends!

I’ve worked with agencies since 1998, providing accounting software, booking and imaging systems, website development, business consulting, and tech support.

In 2018, I was inspired by two agency friends to start doing instant photography again, so it was natural for me to start shooting portraits of my agency clients. They were generally happy to pose, very comfortable in front of the lens (big surprise!) as you might expect from their type of work (especially former models). So far the project has been fun and all the agency people are interested in seeing the full series soon!

PHOTOS (a few…)

BOOK

Over the past few years, as they became aware of my series-in-progress, several of my agency colleagues and friends suggested making it into a coffee-table book.

GEAR

For this project, I’m shooting whatever cameras and films I have with me when I go to the agencies, including:

  • Instant Cameras (vintage/new/modified)
    • Polaroid — SLR 680ES, SX-70 and Sonar, etc.
    • Instax — Various cameras and Lomo Graflok backs.
  • Instant Films (new and recently expired)
    • Polaroid — new 600, SX-70, and I-Type format films, plus expired Spectra format and peel-apart pack-films.
    • Instax — new Wide, Square, and Mini-format films.

I’ll update this project as I take more agency people photos and the book starts moving towards a publishing date!
