April Fools’ Day

I waited to post this one the day after, just the way my son refused to be born on April 1st and stayed in the womb until 15 minutes into April 2nd. Some would say my son dodged a bullet, or a lifetime of ridicule. I think it was his first really good decision. 🙂

Honestly, I’m never sure if it’s “April Fools” “April Fool’s” or “April Fools’” Day. Is it a day for ALL fools, or just one particular fool? Do the fools own the day and require an apostrophe, or is it just pluralized for a multi-foolish non-holiday? It is unclear where to place the possessive and arrange the apostrophe. We know that punctuation matters, as was so creepily proven by the old “Let’s eat grandma!” lesson we learned a while back. I went with “April Fools’ Day” as my post title, to honor multiple fools who seem to own the day…

This post is another photograph I took in New York City this week — the Empire State Building, street art, and flags over Fifth Avenue.
