Seagrass Sunset

Walking by water in the golden hour, I clambered over rocks revealed by low-tide, to the island-turned-peninsula. Spiky seagrass rose from muddy ground around tidal pools, crunching underfoot as I wandered. Light was fading fast, the sinking spring sun almost touching treetops across the estuary. Turning back, I squatted for a moment to peer into a pool, noticed bent, broken, curled stalks of seagrass silhouetted against the sun, and captured the moment.

Heading home in the car, I smiled to see a jet-trail — out of focus, in the distance — running through the stalks, the tallest of which was slightly blurred by the evening breeze.
