Of course, I had to take photos of the trick-or-treaters when they came to our house, begging for candy. Of course, I had to ask parents (when available) for permission to take photos of their kids. And, of course, I did “one-for-you-one-for-me” instant photos, because…well…that’s my thang, my groove, my schtick, my oeuvre, my modus operandi…
This year, in what seemed like a post-pandemic release of creative energy — or just a pent-up desire to have some fun — all the adults I saw were in costume! Sadly, some of the “grown up” outfits were far better than those worn by their own children. On social media, it seemed as if all the celebrities were donning serious costumes and makeup this year, which also seemed like busting loose after the pandemic.
We didn’t dress up or go out this year. We just waited patiently for the mad ringing of our doorbell by sugar-fueled and sugar-hungry little index fingers, attached to the greedy, grabbing hands of young people, blissfully unaware that we heard the very first ring of the doorbell, which rendered all subsequent rings unnecessary and annoying AF… But it was fun nevertheless! Here’s a few of the instant photos I took this year:
